2013 COLLECTION
OF OUR FRANCIACORTA WINES

A NEW FRANCIACORTA
GENERATION

Grape variety is something very important for us
and we never give up on it. Therefore our Franciacorta wines
result from putting together wines of different origines;
each of them contributes with its own uniqueness,
and together they make our wines balanced, fresh and naturally strong.

The nose is fresh, with floral notes of lime, shades of citrus, white peach and green pepper. It has a beautiful coral pink colour, very bright, with a fine and persistent perlage. An original Franciacorta, in a modern style, making skilful use of the Pinot nero grapes. The nose has clear notes of wild berries, fresh rose petals, hints of apple and tropical fruit. The mouth is structured, crisp and lively, tangy and sensually upbeat. The finish is long and well balanced.

A fragrant wine, which immediately seduces you with its originality, presaging an exceptionally fresh taste. The style plays strongly on a quest for harmony between complexity and pleasure, in keeping with the sweetness of expression of the Franciacorta area. The colour is a bright straw, with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is fresh and elegant, with clear bouquets of hawthorn, bread crust, balsamic notes, hints of apple rennet, dried figs and peanuts. Soft in the mouth, but not sweet, it has a fresh pleasant flavour. The finish is long and dense, with very pleasant flavour.

A Franciacorta of great personality, consisting in a selection of Pinot nero grapes from a specific morainic soil that gives the grape its full-bodied flavour, which carries over well to the wine. It has a very precise flavour, complex bouquet, with hints of grapefruit, blackcurrant, and walnut hull, and unusual traces of laurel and green tobacco. Modulated and sharp-flavoured, structured and full-bodied, fast-paced, it has a long and pleasantly persistent finish.

This Franciacorta is energetic and personal, deriving character and colour from the specific virtues of Pinot nero. In the glass it has a brilliant copper colour. It has a deep and complex bouquet, with berry, floral notes, nuances reminiscent of caper flowers, and with delicate spices. Full and strong palate, with a crisp taste, denoting the clear and consistent presence of Pinot nero, with tangs of clove, and hints of liquorice, and a balanced almond milk finish.

A complex Franciacorta, with a strong taste, due to a unique interpretation of the Satèn. Original and intriguing in its overall sensuality, it has varied perfumes, with floral notes of genista, bread crust and hints of hazelnuts. With an intense straw colour, lively and sparkling, it has a fine perlage. The palate is crisp and structured, with good balance, accompanied by notes of nougat during a persistent finish.

The colour is bright yellow with light golden hues, the nose rich with evident notes of exotic fruits, white flowers that give the wine a pleasant freshness and, in the background, hints of tobacco, sweet almond and vanilla. On the palate it is full-bodied with traces of minerals and the taste reveals a lively fragrance and a pleasant acidity that prolongs the length in the mouth.

Pinodisé

This fortified wine is obtained from the combination of a blend of prestigious brandies, aged at least twelve years, and the must of Chardonnay grapes selected in the vineyards of Franciacorta and harvested at full maturity. The must obtained by soft squeezing, rests for 5-6 days in steel tanks at controlled temperatures, near to zero degrees. This operation clarifies it naturally, highlighting once again how Contadi Castaldi avoids big interventions in the cellar that distort a wine.

Later, in a stage prior to fermentation, brandy is added to the must, which is obtained by the classic method from our wines until it reaches a final grade of 16.5 percent alcohol. The blend thus obtained is aged in 4 HL oak casks for three years. During this time the brandy gives warmth, texture and softness to the freshness and fruitiness typical of a must obtained by careful harvesting.

With a large and complex intense aroma, it opens with elegant floral hints and a bouquet of fruit, herbs, spices and raisins. The sensation is in the mouth, where the Pinodisé astounds with its balance and softness, with sweet notes of honey and eucalyptus, and with its freshness and full- bodied finish. It can be served as an aperitif or as an ideal accompaniment for pâtés, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. As an aperitif and dessert it is best served at a temperature of 6-7° C, while with cheeses it is best at a higher temperature (11-13° C).

The most beautiful sensation
a wine can offer: a taste
of the magic of its native
landscape

An extraordinary universe of vines gave rise to the territory of Franciacorta. In the variety of its landscapes we discovered a wide range of expression, a richness of nuances, that made the creation of a new winemaking dream a real possibility. These are the origins of Contadi Castaldi, the most highly specialized company in the art of innovation, which searched the Franciacorta region to find the most evocative vineyards and the most passionate winegrowers. After all, no two winegrowers are the same, and each of them practices and excels in different passions.

La cantina Contadi Castaldi

The name is a synthesis of the ancient history of Franciacorta, its 19 municipalities and their vocation for outstanding agriculture. In 1500, when the Venetian Republic was at the height of its splendour, Franciacorta produced food and wine destined for the tables of princes, kings and rich merchants. For Franciacorta, the beautiful city of Venice was the market of choice for introducing its wines.

One of the many quarries in the area gave rise to the Biasca brickyard, the old building that houses the Contadi Castaldi winery today. When the Franciacorta region was at the peak of its development in the 1980’s, Vittorio and Mariella Moretti decided to convert the brickyard into a winery. Its large spaces and long tunnels where the bricks were fired proved to be the perfect place for ageing Franciacorta vintages and welcoming wine lovers.
